Why wheelsets? Many reasons but here's a few:
- Save Weight : Save half a
pound on your wheelset and you'll actually feel the
difference! You'll climb better, accelerate
faster.
- Better Performance : These
wheelsets are not only lighter, they're also stiffer. Aside
from climbing better, these wheels will help your bike
handle/corner better and be more responsive.
- Better Reliability : Since
manufacturers are now able to match hubs, spokes, and rims,
they're able to produce stronger wheels. Most important,
they're able to control the wheel building process.
Hand-built, evenly tensioned wheels stay true
longer.
Manufacturers have obviously
recognized this. 5 years ago, you had to buy hubs, rims,
spokes and find a wheelbuilder. Today, there's quite a
selection of ready-to-ride wheelsets. We measured and
photographed a dozen of the best high-end cross-country
wheelsets available.
