Strengths:Grippy, light, abuseable, decent price. Lots of colors if you care about that silliness. I have two MAG sets.
Weaknesses:Creaky outer bushing present in both sets used. Hollow studs take hideous core samples of shin bone and skin like no other I've tried. That's not really as much of a weakness as it is a warning. Pack some butterflys in your post-ride gear bag.
    Similar Products Used:Wellgo something-or-others
Bike Setup:06 Rush, Maverick sc32 fork etc.
Bottom Line:Nice pedals for a decent price. You can get them pretty cheap if you shop around. Grippy wide surface, even when wet or muddy. I've read other reviews here about the creaking from the outside bushings. Defiantely needs improvement here. But they still work spot on. Some outer bearings would make for a great pedal. Little hollow studs really can wreck your shins with wounds that take months to button up. But you want grip, you gotta pay for it somewhere. I'll give 'em a B+ overall. A+ if they remedy the outer bushing problem, as regreasing that area doesn't seem to help much.

Weaknesses:hurts, when these hit the flesh. leaves terrible scars that seem to take ages to heal.
Bottom Line:Been very pleased with these pedals. the bearing is working like it should, the axle is straight. So nothing to complain about. Works really well even if my shoe is not in the "optimal" spot! GRIPS :)

Strengths:Light weight (magnesium version). Huge grip with the extended pins.
    Weaknesses:Bearings and bushes
    Similar Products Used:Shimano DX, 50/50's
Bike Setup:Dean Baja, Formula Puro brakes + discs, Chris King hubs + headset, RockShox Reba forks.
Bottom Line:I have two sets. I purchased the first pair over 2 years ago and they have been abused to the point that most of the studs are ground down and the sides are completely scuffed. The main problem with these pedals (and Shimano DX20s) is that they have only one set of bearings per pedal. Ideally, pedals should have two sets of bearings (one either side of the pedal).

Out of the three pedals I have named, these are the only one's I would buy again. Chipped paint and scuffed pins is all part of the course - if you don't want to damage the pedals - leave them in the box and don't use 'em.

Not sure the pedals are worth the titanium axle upgrade given how bad the bushes are, but I have yet to find a better flat pedal that come's in so light and packs so much grip.

Strengths:This is an update on my DMR V12 Magnesium pedals which I have been using.
Weaknesses:The Bearings / Bush... and the inboard seal.
Similar Products Used:Lots of different brands.
    Bike Setup:SS 29'er.
Bottom Line:Last week I noticed that the pedals were popping and crunching under loads when grinding up long steep climbs, so I pulled them off and had a look inside.

Only ONE bearing ! ! Damn ! These pedals are lovely and light, provide superb grip, look good and work very well for me, but having a crappy bush instead of two bearings, one in each end, is just plain stupid, imo.

I'm really disappointed in DMR for this reason. I expected better from a high-end pedal. A bearing on each end would at least help to spread the loads better than that cheap little bushing.

I don't think that I will be buying these again. I would never have given them such a good initial review if I knew about this before.

    DMR.........you just lost a customer.

Strengths:Well made. Nice finish. Grip well.
Weaknesses:Need to check pin tightness periodically. Paint wears off easy.
    Bike Setup:Bike Friday
Bottom Line:Smart functional pedals at very low cost. Well made but needs checking as with most over bits on your bike. Pins are no problem. Check them for tightness when fitting the pedals and check them from time to time. Put a dab of glue on the threads if they constantly work loose. Could have been anodised rather then painted. I like them and overcome any shortcominhgs! 9/10 **** (*)

Strengths:Magnesium pedals, very light, silver colour so the scrape marks don't show much. Very good pin system, grip your shoes like a rabid dog. Just the right amount of spin.
    Weaknesses:None at all.
Similar Products Used:Tried all sorts of other platforms, most work ok, but these are the best, imo.
Bike Setup:One Niner singlespeed 29'er with Brooks b.17 leather saddle, FSA Carbon Mega Exo crankset, Thomson seatpost, WTB lightweight stem, Boone Ti rings, King headset, AC wheelset, Avid Juicy 7's, Reba race forks with poploc, Hope skewers, Jones Ti H-bar, etc..
    Bottom Line:
These are Damn Fine Pedals, the best I have ever used. The lightweight magnesium can take a hell of a bashing and keep right on going. I ride in a lot of rocky trails, and give these pedals heaps, they just take it all and keep on truckin'.

The spin is just right on these bearings, and the pins really grip your on shoes. They look great on the bike, and the silver magnesium colour helps to hide all the scrape marks from the rocks.

I locktight'ed [blue threadlock] all the pins in before I used the pedals so I have never lost a pin.

Sure, the pins will eat your shins if they hit you, but they are designed to BITE into your shoes, so expect to get some scars if they hit your legs.

Would I buy them again? You betcha I would. Best platform pedals out there, imo.

Bottom Line:I have both the mk1s and mk2s and the mk2s are definenently my favourites the mk1s have taken more abuse (and are silver so don't show it as much) however the mk2s have so much better grip those that say that the mk1s are better are fools living in the past DMR have made an improvement in these pedals. out of the box the bearings feel much better on these than the bearings on the mk1sthere are a beautiful piece of kit and its seams a shame to get them muddy but that is where they work best. I also found that my skate shoes grip the pedals much better than my BMX Vans. although my skate shoes have been "eaten" by the pedals cause of the softer sole. My only complaint is the pedal isn't quite as wide as some of the outland, atomlab, Azonic or snafu pedals. but these are so much more grippy and thats what matters.
