This is a follow up review. After runnignh the DRS on some pretty hard DH its help up great ...havnt lost a chain yet...silent..works great Best dual ring guide ever...seriously
Weaknesses:
only one that I found so far was that E13 has updated and changed their hardware that comes along with the DRS and havnt changed the instructions. SAo when you put on the slider Plates(spacers) the short screws that they say to use arent long enough to reach the nyloc part but no big deal...just use long ones provided and it works fine and doesnt do any harm wgatso ever(not just me saying this I e-mailed E13 and they said the exact same thing)

I have used this guide for a year and had to replace the roller twice and the bearing once. Maybe the BC winters aren't the best place for it. The bearing seizes very easily being so small and the roller tends to gum up and stop rolling often. I don't feel that regular maintenance should require disassembling it after each ride. I had a Blackspire Dewlie that ran flawlessly for 2 years without hassle. I now run a Blackspire Stinger. It's the best $30 I've ever spent. Just pick up a lightweight bashguard of your choice to run with it and you've got a great setup for under $60.

Bottom Line:
This is a follow up review. In the last review, I had pulled the guide of my old AC2 and put it on the Faith, and was getting a lot of chain suck. Finally diagnosed the problem. I had the flip-flop roller mounted backwards (ie. large section of the roller away from the bb instead of closer to the bb). Duh...., pretty stupid mistake. Now the guide is running absolutely beautiful.

Strengths:
Keeps the chain on the rings when pedalling forward.
Weaknesses:
I do experience a fair bit of "chain-suck" when backpedalling. I've toyed around, and noticed that when backpedalling, the chain will slip off the large side of the roller to the small side, causing the chain to come off the big ring and jam in the derailleur. I'm not certain it's a problem with the product though. I think if I play around with the chainline some more, or the spacers on the chainguide plate, I might be able to get it to work better. Also, installation is a bit of a pain, and the bolts don't fit very well into the plastic plates, making insertion/removal of the bolts a nuisance.
The product is decent, but like I've said, I think there may be a lot of tinkering required to get it running real smoothly. While pedalling forward it's fine, but the chain suck is a pain when you're stopped on the trail, and trying to get your cranks lined up flat before getting on your pedals and dropping in.

Some people never read instructions. Install is very easy if you have ANY mechanical ability. Plastic bash guard WILL crack if you over tighten the chain ring bolts. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS and nothing will ever go wrong with the product. I personally promise you. I'm sorry for those of you that paid full price, Ebay baby, Ebay...

Bottom Line:
I bought this bike about 2 months ago and absolutely love it, the problem is this darn E.thirteen DRS guide system and bashguard that was put on it for the dual ring set up I have. Bottom line is it stinks, first my bash guard started to crack around the area where the bolts are, then the chain guide roller brack cracked, then the bracket that the guide roller bolts to cracks. Dang! I'm mad, I called the bike shop and told them about my bash ring and promply put a race face bash ring on, then I started to notice the other parts and found out from them that you can't use a chain oil like Pro Link that is a mineral oil. The instructions say nothing about only using certain chain oils, but I called E.thirteen and they confirmed what my bikeshop told me. I love this bike, but I'm really dissapointed that I have to start tearing it apart and looking for a different set up now after all these problems. E.thirteen said they'd replace the roller and the mounting bracket, but I'm still suspicious if it's going to hold up. I read a lot of positive reviews about this product, but I'm having a hard time believing that I'm the only person that hasn't used Prolink on this system and had problems. Maybe I'm just the unlucky person who got instructions that left out the warning not to use Prolink or I should have somehow known that only certain chain lubes won't make these plastic parts brittle, Bottom line, I'm very irritated

This was my first dual ring guide. Have used the SRS and MRP DH guides before.
When installed right, this thing works. Very little noise or drag when riding. I don't even notice it while climbing. I have only drop a chain once, but I think it was due to a new derailure cable stretching. A quick adjust there were no more problems the rest of the ride.
I can not stress enough how important to read the instructions first. They are very detailed you will get the set up right first time. I skipped them because I figured "How much harder can it be that then SRS?" Well, those details in regard to set up came back to bite me in the ass. I read the instructions, everything went on perfect.
I will be installing another DRS on my next bike and have recommended this guide to several people. Top notch stuff!!

Bottom Line:
All I know is that my chain routinely flops off. My bike is well-adjusted. The chain routinely ends up off the sprocket just the same. It happened during a race. It happens out on the trail. It happens all the time. I try my best not to shift because I never know if my chain is going to end up being jammed.
Also, there is a nice fat bashring but the chain guide hangs down below it, so I'm not sure how good the bashring is if you tear off the chain guide before you ever get to it.
After a year of struggling with this thing, I'm pretty much fed up. I like having two gears up front...but I'm switching to a single chainring/tensioner settup that doesn't have this kind of trouble. I guess trying to build up a "do-everything" bike just doesn't work. A downhill bike needs to be a downhill bike.

Bottom Line:
The price will want to steer anyone away from potentially getting this product. $150 dollars is nothing to sneeze at, and may deter people to look at other cheaper products, like the MRP LRP. Although the price is expensive, I feel its worth every penny.
A lot of people don't have the luxury to own multiple bikes, for those who want to make a well rounded all around bike designed for everything, the e13 DRS is there. The e13 is a mega quality chainguide that comes with a system that never drops your chain, keeps everything quiet, and is maintanice free.
Installation for me was actually quick and easy, I took it to a bike shop. First time you open the box for the DRS, you will be instantly confusfued. Your local bike shop is there to help you, and typically costs upwards of 25 dollars to have it installed, worth the price to correctly install the product if you ask me.
Overall: With my chain never dropping, the system running quiet and mantanince free, theres not a better product out there, sure it may be expensive, but you do get what you pay for. Thumbs up to the e13 DRS.

Works really well when new.
Weaknesses:
Not terribly durable. The plastic bits that hold the lower roller on got smashed off within a couple months because they hang lower than the bashguard. I had to fabricate some new ones out of aluminum. Also, the boomerang bends if you hit a rock. A rubber hammer is a very usefull tool to "adjust" this chainguide.
Bike Setup:
7x7 Freeride bike
Bottom Line:
I was disappointed with the durability of the roller setup. The plastic bits don't handle much of an impact, and things get bent out shape. Bending isn't a problem really, but the plastic gets smashed and becomes useless. Also, I don't think it's a very good value. They must be making a lot of money on these, because there really isn't that much to them. $50 would seem like a more realistic price.
