Description:Silky smooth, maintenance free one-piece cartridge design – slap it in and forget about it! Double lip wiper seals at each end keep the bearings free from mud, grime and moisture. Design features a drive side flanged fixed cup for quick and easy installation and chainline simplicity – when using Race Face cranks, this BB gives a 48.5-49mm chainline. Hollow chromoly steel spindle is cold forged, CNC machined, precision ground, heat-treated and nickel-plated, making it super strong and durable.

I never had to do a thing to it. It just recently went out on me after 5 ears of riding, this bb was on my old Klein back in '99. I recently pulled off one of the cranks and a bunch of water came gushing out, the old race face was done! I just bought another one for $25.00 off of Pricepoint.

Bike Setup:stuff
Bottom Line:Mmm, it lasted a few months before I noticed that it wouldn't spin when the cranks were off. So I used it some more and noticed the same thing when i pulled the cranks later. I was able to spin the spindle by USING THE CRANK ARMS for leverage. I pulled the seal and bearing carrier and found a nice glop of rusty junk. Nice. I repacked with grease but um, yeah. I'm using a square BB now, so I haven't used this since, but I have a feeling it won't last long. Need better seals or cartridge bearings. Or, just make it fully serviceable so I can pull the thing apart after wet rides.

Weaknesses:Seemed like one of the bearings went to dust. It started to have play in it within 3 months. Eventually started to throw chain in high torque situations, which can be VERY bad.
Similar Products Used:Just installed FSA Ultimax Extreme Pro

Bottom Line:The Prodigy BB I used on my hardtail lasted until I transplanted all the good parts on to the Fuel, which used a different size BB. I had problems with this one within 6 months. The RF Turbines and chain rings are wonderful,(not cheap) but remember... when you by cheap stuff, you get cheap stuff. I would be weary of anything you can't work on or rebuild. Throw away parts are just that, throw away. I gave it 2 chili's because I did get my money's worth.

Bottom Line:Really cool bike Sucks the big one to not have a bike because of a really crappy product put out by a very good company. Race face should recall all of these things and give them to Huffy. They still might not be good enough for Huffy. RF should be ashamed to put such a piece of crap out like this. Completely useless bb in my opinion. If I had known it was this bad I would have bought one of the more expensive ones and the DH cup. I only paid 29 bucks for the thing, but it should still last more than a month.

Weaknesses:Bearings are shot after a little over three months.

Bottom Line:This is a horrible item, unless you do not use the bottom bracket it is not worth buying. With just under a 100 miles on it i pulled it out to check it and it was grinding horribly. You can't change the bearings so the BB is now garbage.

Bottom Line:I have used this product about 100 miles and it is now toast. Whenever any amount of force is applied, I get this very "metal on metal" grinding sound. That can't be good...so I decided to take this dog out and put it out of its misery. The BB was free so I gave it a shot and would recommend that nobody buy this product. If it comes free with the cranks, go ahead and try it, but be prepared to replace it. I'll give it 3 chili's for value, but 1 for overall. Bottom line is that this BB will NOT last.

Bottom Line:If you have some tools and can get this BB cheap, then go ahead and plan on replacing it often. It doesn't last. The internals (bearings?) get loose very quickly. Cranks come off easy as their slopping around.

They shouldn't loosen up so quickly. Weak design. RF should know better than to put out crappy components.

Bottom Line:Oh Geez. A STORY and 1/2. Bought a RF Prodigy Crankset
with a middle-end RF BB. Spindle bolts came loose three
times. The directions say put GREASE on the bolt threads. Boy was this a mistake. I could not keep em from loosening.
Wonder if Race Face has ever heard of LOCKTITE? They came WAY loose three times, damaging the crank splines. So, I
cranked on the bolts way past the suggested values, but by
now, the damage was done. The arms would wiggle back and forth on the spindle. I bought another crankset/bb combo
(Prod) but the crank would not bottom on the flange stop!!
Even at 75 lbs of torque!! Can you say "quality control"?
In reading the reviews, I am NOT optimistic. Maybe I should use the new Crank with the OLD higher-quality bb?????BIGMESS
