It works great. I have had for about six weeks, and there are nicks, but no dents. The ring is still true, and it think it will stay that way.

    Duration Product Used:6 months
    Price Paid: $35.00
Strengths:Super strong, nearly unbreakable. KEEPS YOUR PANTS OUT OF THE CHAIN!!!!!
Weaknesses:Eventually becomes nicked when frequently smashed into concrete!
    Similar Products Used:Race Face
Bike Setup:GT Backwoods - Judy SL - Black Spire cranks - Deore XT derailers - rino lite rims
Bottom Line:This is the strongest bash ring I have evewr tried. It beats the Race Face one which has to be the only poor product that they make. Black Spire has to be my favorite bike company because everything they make rules. Their cranks are awesom along with their ass-kickin chain rings.

Another wicked thing about bash rings is that they SAVE your pants. You can ride with bell bottoms ant the seams will not get torn on your chain rings.

This is the greatest investment I have ever made in my bike.

    Date Reviewed: May 24, 2000
    Duration Product Used:3 months
Strengths:Fat as! very strong, leap tall park benches & logs in a single bound.
    Weaknesses:none found so far.
    Similar Products Used:Vuelta ring protector
Bike Setup:99 XCR 4000, Maguras, Hutchinson Jumbos, Fizik Atlas, Alex double wall DH rims, Kore Strictly D bars.
Bottom Line:If you ride any distance on the road or are wanting to race anywhere really this ain't for you. If what you're after is a way of increasing ground clearance and chainring survivability while Freeriding / streetriding/ trials then you can't go past this bit of kit for practicality. (and it looks knarly too. Great graphics).
I guess its really a bit like GTs description for the Zaskar X - "If you don't get it, we don't want to explain it"

Submitted by BRANDON JOHNSON a Weekend Warrior from HESPERIA SO.CAL.
    Date Reviewed: April 18, 2000
    Favorite Trail:TopSecret
    Duration Product Used:3 months
    Strengths:Thicker than a beefeater!!
    &
The ground clearance of a monster truck!!
Weaknesses:It could probably use some liposuction, or maybe a few drill-holes to lighten it up. Oh, nevermind I'm from Cali.
Similar Products Used:44 tooth big-ring, just wouldn't slide over stuff as well.
    Bike Setup:19" COVE Stiffee, 99 Z2BAM, King, RaceFace, KookaRachas, XTR,SDG, Tioga2.3, AtomLab Trailpimp platform-peds!!
Bottom Line:This chunk of aluminum forces you to stay in "PLAY-MODE". After removing the big-ring, I realized how much energy was wasted cranking on all those teeth. Now I have more energy on reserve to climb and PLAY!!
Playing is my reason to ride.

    Favorite Trail:Fidalgo Island
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Strengths:price; graphics; does what it says it will do
Weaknesses:can't flip, can only be put on one way; noticably heavier than the big ring it replaced
Similar Products Used:smooth skid plate on my '73 Bultaco Sherpa T!
Bike Setup:Proflex 755; Noleen elt front, ODS rear; Richey max tire front, Conti comp pro 1 rear; xt 8sp (11-30), 20-32 front.
Bottom Line:Excellent for old slow duffers like me who never use big ring on trails, as well as trials hotshots; still learning to take on big logs and rocks, but in one ride I could see big difference in ease of hopping 12" logs. Probably not much use in the southwest, but perfect around here. Those BC freaks rule!

    Favorite Trail:
    Boomerang, Bromont
    Duration Product Used:

    Strengths:
Strong, looks good, laser etched graphic. Way stronger than competitors products.
    Weaknesses:
Not being able to flip But, the added beef is worth it.
    Similar Products Used:
    Rock ring
    Bike Setup:
1997 Rocky Mountain Speed, 5.5 rear travel, freeride bike. DH, Trials, trails,k everything
Bottom Line:I love my ring god. My fear of wrecking bike components has decreased alot since installing it. The only problem, is I still think landing full impact on concrete can't be good for your bike.

Submitted by Sherman a Weekend Warrior from British Columbia, Canada
    Date Reviewed: July 25, 1999
    Duration Product Used:
    1 Year
    Strengths:
Strong, nice looks, long wear, easy to install
    Weaknesses:
    Cannot be flipped or rotated.
    Bike Setup:
    Trials bike
Bottom Line:This is a good product. If you ride trials and want to keep the middle ring for getting places then this is great. This ring is beefy and lasts a long time. It is also great for technical trails with a lot of drop offs or logs. It slides right over logs. The downside like I said, is the fact that it cannot be flipped or rotated. Usually one edge of the ring is worn out more because of the way people place their feet. Therefore one side of the ring will look almost brand new while the other side is wrecked. Gotta knock off one star for this flaw.
