    Favoriate Trail:boogieman
    Duration Product Used:2 Years
    Price Paid: $2200.00
    Purchased At:cove bike shop
Strengths:frame has taken tons of abuse and never faltered. The bike makes for controlled hucking. Drops are well absorbed with the right setup.
Weaknesses:I'm not able to increase the rear travel - 5 inches was great when I got it but now it comes up a little short. Still up to 7ft drops leave smooth landings.
    Similar Products Used:None
    Bike Setup:2002 JrT - Race face cranks, headset etc - Gazza's - mavic 321's - hayes brakes
Bottom Line:Great bike for this area - my bike weighs in around 38lbs and yeah it sucks to ride uphill but I didn't buy it for that. Great for hucking, wheelies, steeps and speed. This bike is a confidence builder as there are no worries of failure. Maintain your bike and it'll ride well. If I could increase the rear travel to 7in I'd keep this bike for years to come.

    Duration Product Used:1 Year
    Price Paid: $1150.00
    Purchased At:COVE (shipped)
    Strengths:SOLID
    Weaknesses:???
    Similar Products Used:Kona, Giant
Bike Setup:Z1-5", Rhyno lites, Heyes, flats (Ringles)
Bottom Line:Not sure what the previous guy is talking about.
    Great bike - inspires confidence...
    SOLID - easy maintenance.
Do install a chain tensioner - fell on my head twice from 6' as the chain sliped right at the edge...
I have a cross country Intense Tracer, too, but often opt for the Cove even for regular rides - just tighten the spring and extend the seat post and it climbs nicely.

    Favoriate Trail:highway 102
Duration Product Used:Tested or demo'ed only
Strengths:the other reviews posted here, that's it.
Weaknesses:I took the bike for a ride after looking at it in the shop and being really excited about what seemed like a great design idea. The biggest weakness this bike has is some of the total clowns that work at the cove, way too much weed and very little product knowledge.
Similar Products Used:santa cruz bullit, stiky dee, marin, rocky rm6 and slayer
    Bike Setup:as sold at shop
Bottom Line:after looking on-line and reading the reviews here, I was sure I had found my new bike. Rode the stinky, and marin on the same day, both were very nice machines. When I got on the G-spot and started to pedal up the hill from the Cove, I thought somebody was playing a joke, or they had forgotten to put a few bolts in the bike. The way this thing bobbed was beyond belief, I've never ridden a more messed up machine in all my years of riding. I don't know if everybody is just so caught up in how "cool" these cove bikes are that they just don't have the kahunas to say this thing is best off in the recycle bin. Other Cove bikes are a pleasure to ride, but they totally blew it on this thing.

Weaknesses:Broke my first frame and got warrenty.Bike needs a 24" wheel to get slack head angle. If i put in other susp position the frame bottoms out, horrid chain suck

Bottom Line:actually have been riding the nice new gusseted 2000 frameset for more than three months, just under six, eat yer heart out boyo. if i didn't have to work, i'd ride it a lot more often. in combination w/ the stratos fork, this bike eats anything i toss it's way, and is way forgiving of my frequent screw-ups. i go 200 #, and the bike is the nicest i've ever owned/ridden, so be a smart guy and call cymbol right now and order one for yourself

    Date Reviewed: May 30, 2000
    Favoriate Trail:anything steep & rocky, drop-offs
    Duration Product Used:1 Year
Strengths:4 bar 'Turner style' linkage design allows bike to climb well although it's on the heavy side, and bike stays active under braking and chain load, whether sitting or standing.
Main bearings are huge and beefy around outside of BB shell,
have heard of a few breaking (new bikes now have extra head tube gusseting), but Cove stands behind their warranties, no questions asked, -other friends have cracked their frames. Seat can be lowered completely into frame
Weaknesses:real fat tire in the rear rubs on seat tube under full compression, seatstay yoke contacts seat tube clamp when bottoming out hard, (although this has been fixed to a degree on newer bikes with shorter stroke shocks)
    Similar Products Used:Turner Burner
Bike Setup:MR T's, Hope discs, 521 rims, fat rubber, race face, roox,
Bottom Line:Best bike I've had so far that seems to be a complete all round bike, well balanced for downhill speeds yet agile in tight trails, climbs extremely well with very little bob, and design looks great. can definately recommend this bike to anyone for freeriding, trials, DH. And its 100% Canadian, handbuilt and designed in one of the toughest places you can ride.

Weaknesses:rear der. bashes chain stays on any hard drops
    Bike Setup:michelin tyres - hayes - lx/xt - race face - mavic 521's
Bottom Line:a fun free-rider wih good balance - great all-round bike. Definate reccomendation for those that like to goof around on their bikes - it'll do most anything the rider wants it to do.

    Date Reviewed: March 3, 2000
Duration Product Used:Tested or demo'ed only
Strengths:-great warranty - will replace any cracked frame
Weaknesses:-poor design - ie gussets , lack of side plates
-my friend broke his frame in 6 months
-have personally seen 4 cracked frames
-if this is such a great "SHORE" bike , then why have i seen or heard of so many cracked frames ?
-my friend had a loose headset from day 1 , and has gone through 2 RACE FACE headsets without solving the problem
Similar Products Used:kona stinky , rocky mountain dh
    Bike Setup:98 blizzard limited edition
Bottom Line:The frames crack , but luckily Cove will replace it with a new one. I hear that their new G-SPOTS will have side plates welded on . Hopefully , this will solve the problem on what should have been a bombproof bike . If you weigh less than 160 lbs , you may not have any problems . But if you're in the 200 lb. range and are an agreesive rider , you may want to look elsewhere.

    Favoriate Trail:Boogeyman
    Duration Product Used:6 months
    Strengths:*6" of super plush travel
    *Snazzy decals
    *Bombproof
    *MADE IN CANADA
    *Overall Hard-core Northshore Bike
    Weaknesses:*Only the rider
    Similar Products Used:Kona Stinky
Kons S-e-x Too (won't let me write the S** word, how dumb is that)
    Bike Setup:Manitou X-Vert R, XT/XTR, Race Face Turbine LP
Bottom Line:If you're looking for a bike that's gonna last you forever and take you down the gnarliest trails in the world, this is it. The awesome Turner suspension design is, in my opinion the best linkage system out there. This bike is right for the money, and right for me. If you're worried about weight though, don't buy a freeride bike like this, although it's way lighter than my friends Stinky, it's still heavier than the smaller suspension bikes (King Kikapu, etc).

    Favoriate Trail:anything rooty and steep
    Duration Product Used:1 Year
Strengths:4 bar linkage suspension design (best design for braking and climbing), product support from Deep Cove Bike Shop, pivot location (around bottom bracket), built for North Shore condition. Price. Weight. Geometry is perfect for slowing going.
Weaknesses:Chainstays too short (rear tires can rub if tire is big enough. Falling rate on 6" setting. Yoke rubs on seat collar when bottoms out.
Similar Products Used:RM-6 (thrust-link suspension is like spagetti, not 4 bar linkage).
Santa Cruz Bullit and Super 8 (pivot too high for 1st. chainring, excess pedal feedback, not 4 bar linkage)
    Turner
Rocky DH-TO (better suspension than RM-6)
Bike Setup:QR-20, Hayes, big tires, North Shore setup.
Bottom Line:Best all around (free-ride, North Shore) full suspension bike out in market. Bike has some issues to deal with to be perfect. Manufacturer (Cove Bike Shop) is dealing with these issues as I mentioned.
Not designed for straight Downhill like RM-9, Super 8, but for all around purposes. Does everything well.
Cove is going to make a 8" Downhiller.
I defineately would recommend this bike and have.

Bottom Line:The guy named Adrian at the bottom of this page wo says that he has owed a g-spot for 1 month is lying. He hasn't even demoed it or seen it in real life. don't trust what he says because he knows nothing about the bike. Just so that you know. (Adrian is one of my best friends and that is how i know this)! Don't trust what he says he ows a GT timberline (which i must say sucks) I am also the one who ownes the Garry fisher F4 which he HAS tested. But if i were you i would go for an RM6. I have not tested a g-spot or an RM6 but will be getting an RM6 DH soon.

Strengths:- Look (bad a** looking bike)
    - Build what you want
    - Unique pivot point
Weaknesses:- None so far as it was only a demo
    - in purchasing a bike though, my only concern was the boutique shop type of bike
Similar Products Used:- Kona Stinky De-lux
    - Rocky RM6
    - SantaCruz Bullit and Heckler
    - Brodie Devo
Bike Setup:- XT Package (with an XTR rear derailer)
    - Z1 QR 20
    - Vanilla RC
    - Hayes
    - nothing outragious and out of the ordinary for north shore riding
Bottom Line:Incredible North Shore bike, you can tell it was designed for this riding. It just seems to be a real balanced bike and worth the look. A bit of a climbing pig, but what bike isn't in such riding. Just can't decide between the listed bikes... I don't think you can wrong with Cove G-Spot.
