Submitted by Fodder a Cross Country Rider from Winter Park, CO, USA
Date Reviewed: July 26, 2008
Favorite Trail:Leapfrog
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $57.00
Purchased At:JensonUSA.com
Strengths:UST Compatible
Weaknesses:A little loose in the corners
Bike Setup:RIP 9 w/ XT drive-train, White Bro's Fluid 29-135, Hayes Stroker 8"/6", and Stans ZTR-Flow rims w/ CK hubs & headset
Bottom Line:As my first 29'er tire, not bad. Pumped up right away, but they do burp a lot and feel a bit loose in the tight corners and on rocky sections of trail. For hard-pack they work great, but as soon as it gets loose, I start to jump around more than I used to on my 26" bike.

Date Reviewed: June 16, 2008
Favorite Trail:Winona Lake IN
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $37.00
Purchased At:Jenson USA
Strengths:It's black and circular
Weaknesses:The Hutchenson 29 inch burps and flats under normal riding conditions when ran with low pressure (30-35) and without tubes. Also the tred collects mud like an old lady adding ruber bands to a ball of rubber bands. Finally, I don't think they handle that well. They don't inspire confidence in corners.
Similar Products Used:Kenda, Maxis, Continental, Michelin,
Bike Setup:Felt Nine Solow with 29 inch Mavic crossmax wheels
Bottom Line:I'm looking for a real, light weight UST 29" tubless tire that roll with low pressure and maybe the extra protection of some stans for good measure.

Submitted by Mick a Cross Country Rider from Dallas
Date Reviewed: May 24, 2008
Duration Product Used:6 months
Strengths:Fast rolling.
Weaknesses:Grip in loose stuff
Bike Setup:Intense Spyder 29er
Bottom Line:Not a bad tire but in the tight switch backs it does not inspire the cornering confidence that one hopes for on a 29er. Have to get way back off the saddle and drop weight to get tire to hold all the way through a tight turn. I would be willing to give us some speed to get better cornering. Going to give Nevegal a run on the back to see if that improves things.

Submitted by Kip a Cross Country Rider from Albuquerque, NM
Date Reviewed: April 6, 2008
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $45.00
Purchased At:Fat Tire
Strengths:Low rolling resistance
Weaknesses:Poor cornering, burps air and sealant if run under 35 PSI, wears quickly.
Bike Setup:RIP 9, Crossmax UST
Bottom Line:OK for hardpack, but on loose over hard, or aggressive rocky stuff its not so good. I have been running it on the front only, I am 175 lbs and had lots of trouble burping air even on fairly smooth trails.

Date Reviewed: February 13, 2008
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $45.00
Purchased At:competitivecyclist.com
Strengths:One of the few 29'er UST tyres available for X country riding.
Weaknesses:None
Similar Products Used:Conti explorer, Python, Schwalbe Racing Ralph (all 26 inch)
Bottom Line:A good all round tyre, though a little high on rolling resistance compared to Bonty equivalent. Am happy with it and can think of no faults.

Date Reviewed: January 31, 2008
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $40.00
Purchased At:Rage Cycles
Strengths:Fast and Sticky! Great traction without a lot of rolling resistance. Enough tread to be aggressive in corners. Holds air very well with sealer.
Weaknesses:Difficult to mount the first time. Must use sealer.
Similar Products Used:Bontrager Dry X TLR 29
Bike Setup:Fisher Ferrous 29, Avid Juicy 5, Bontrager Race Lite TLR 29.
Bottom Line:Great tire for racing. Hooks up well and rolls great. It took a few times filling to get the sealer to distribute completely but now holds air very well. The tire holds up to our jagged desert rocks. Great in sand. I am only about 155 lbs and run both front and rear at 28 psi.

Date Reviewed: January 30, 2008
Favorite Trail:squirrel gap
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $45.00
Purchased At:competitive cyclist
Strengths:Very fast rolling tire that hooks up surprisingly well on Midwest hardpack. Airs up great tubeless.
Weaknesses:I would be reluctant to use in rocky conditions or when muddy in heavy clay soils like we have in the midwest.
Similar Products Used:Rampage, Ignitor, Small Block 8
Bike Setup:Shamrock Cycles Galway 29er hardtail w/Reba Race, XTR drivetrain, XO rder, XO twisties, formula K28 disc brakes, Thomson seat post and stem, Easton carbon riser, Stan's Arch w/DT Swiss hubs
Bottom Line:Really like the high volume fast rolling performance of this tire. Hutchinson calls this their "Tubeless Ready" tire.
