$350.00 | | Purchased At: | Bean's Bikes | | Strengths: | Light weight, zero maintenance. | | Weaknesses: | Price. | | Similar Products Used: | Steel fork on my Raleigh XXIX. | | Bike Setup: | Seven Cycles Verve, singlespeed, various bling. | | Bottom Line: | You have to be choosy about line selection with a rigid bike, and this fork allows you to do that. It's extreme light weight makes lofting the front end easy; and there is, so far, no compromise in the area of strength/reliability. The fork does have a noticeable damping effect, which I really like. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$300.00 | | Purchased At: | Q.B.P. | | Strengths: | It really lightens up your front end! Steers fast but not to fast!Came highly recommended by Davis Carver!!! | | Weaknesses: | Light weight makes you wait for it to break! But it has not as of yet!!! | | Similar Products Used: | Reba 29er | | Bike Setup: | Carver 96er singlespeed, Raceface cranks 180mm with 36x16 gearing Bontrager 29 race front rim and tire2.25,26" velocity rear rim Holy Roller tire big and soft 2.4" Bontr. carbon post, easton monkey lite riser, thomson stem. | | Bottom Line: | I've been ripping up my local trails for over a year, kind of reserved at first but i have grown to trust this very light fork! I ride lots of woopy and fast trails i have jumped quite a bit but am really smooth nothing stupid!! Mine also creaks but no problems as of yet!I like how this fork handles and highly recommend it to any one!! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$280.00 | | Purchased At: | eBay | | Strengths: | Light & Clean looking | | Weaknesses: | FLEX.........Like two wet noodles. Took some time to get used to, but it still freaks me out in some situations. | | Similar Products Used: | NA | | Bike Setup: | Niner One9, PW BB, Eno Cranks, Formula K24, Stan's Arch, CK hubs, Thompson stem/post, RaceFace Carbon riser. | | Bottom Line: | This fork is for someone that doesn't want the harshness/stiffness of steel/Ti, but isn't ready to strap a +4lb suspension fork on their lightweight SS. Fexy is a understatement, but will get used to it after some time. it is very forgiving in the corner and does soak up some of the high freq. vibrations. Still wouldn't do any jumping/drops with this thing and maybe it's just me, but i inspect mine after every ride. Pace assures us that it is one of, if not the strongest carbon rigid fork on the market, but the flex will freak you out. :) | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$370.00 | | Purchased At: | LBS | | Strengths: | Soft ride, light weight, reliability, lack of required maintenance. | | Weaknesses: | It flexes a lot (like 2 inches) under hard braking and hard impacts. I guess the fork is designed to do this, but I still have visions of it braking. I weight 180 pounds and I have been riding the fork real hard for a year. I am slowly gaining confidence in the fork. | | Similar Products Used: | Surly Karate Monkey rigid fork, Reba | | Bike Setup: | Seven Ti 29er, SS, Jones bars, Weirwolf 2.55" tire | | Bottom Line: | This fork was a huge improvement over the Surly fork. With the combination of the fork, a 29er wheel, fat tire, and Jones Ti bars. I rarely miss the suspension. Every time I need to wheelie over something or climb a hill I am happy with the weight savings. I think this is one of the best improvements you can make to your bike. I would recommend it to anyone. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Los Angeles, CA Date Reviewed: April 2, 2007 | | Favorite Trail: | Doctor's Park Crested Butte, CO | | Duration Product Used: | 3 months | | Purchased At: | Cycles Unlimited Springfield, MO | | Strengths: | super stiff, complient, welcoming feel, fast. | | Weaknesses: | cracking sound can happen from time to time | | Similar Products Used: | suspension forks, this is the only rigid I have ridden since my '94 Cromoly Rockhopper | | Bottom Line: | The appearance of this fork will get you laid.
Pretty sweet feel, rolls over most everything small, but it is 29er.
Like Rain Man mentioned in his review it tends to have a cracking sound at times. I try to check my headset when it happens but I think it might be a nature of the beast. No damage or breaking down yet.
I think this fork is gaining popularity, some friends have mentioned they like this fork better than the Ibex overall.

$400.00 | | Purchased At: | Speedgoat | | Strengths: | This is a follow-up of my original review on this Pace carbon fork.
| | Weaknesses: | The fork developed cracking sounds at the junction of the fork legs and the crown. I suspect that the bonding between the fork legs and the crown has broken down. | | Similar Products Used: | All types of forks. | | Bike Setup: | SIR 9 and One Niner. | | Bottom Line: | This was a good fork and I was happy with it. However, recently I noticed a "cracking" sound coming from the fork when riding it. I removed it from the bike and examined it closely. There seems to be a breakdown in the bonding between the carbon legs and the crown. Pace aren't interested in looking at it to see why it is breaking down in order to improve their product.
For this reason, I can NOT recommend that you buy one of these forks. If the thing breaks as you are riding down a steep hill at speed, you are really going to get hurt, badly.
There are other, better options available on the market.

$350.00 | | Purchased At: | LBS | | Strengths: | Light weight, damping effect, appearance, build, reputation. | | Weaknesses: | Fragile carbon legs...and prone to damage if hit hard. | | Similar Products Used: | None. | | Bike Setup: | One Niner and SIR 9. | | Bottom Line: | I have used this fork on both my lightweight Scandium framed One Niner and my steel SIR 9. It worked equally well on both bikes. The damping effect of carbon is readily apparent, it takes some of the 'buzz' out of constant smaller ripples in the road and on the trail. It felt 'softer' than the Niner rigid fork, and quickened up the steering slightly.
But .... the best thing about this fork is the light weight! It makes lofting the front end over obstacles a breeze. The steering is very direct, no slop, you go where you point it, and there is no brake dive at all. It flexes under brakes over ripples, you can see the legs moving backwards and forwards as the carbon legs absorb the braking forces and bumps.
This is a very well made and constructed product. The workmanship is good, the finish is a clearcoat over the weave and it looks great. Pace have a great reputation with carbon forks, so the product is already proven, unlike some other carbon forks that have recently become available.
One thing that stood out ... the keeper tabs on the drop-outs. This makes it harder to get the wheel in and out of the fork, but it also makes it waaay harder for your front wheel to drop out of the fork if you somehow forget to tighten the QR properly. A nice safety measure, and indicative of the forward-thinking that Pace employs.
The ONLY downside to this fork is the fragility of the carbon, which applies equally to all other carbon forks as well. If you hit this fork hard enough to notch or damage the carbon, then it *may* fail catastrophically under brakes or similiar pressure without warning.
However, in several months of riding it with quite a few crashes, I have yet to see any damage to the fork.
So ..... the bottom line?
A great fork, well made and well designed that enhances the dampening effect we rigid riders all look for in a front end. This is a very nice fork.

$270.00 | | Purchased At: | Universal cycles | | Strengths: | Weight Compliance Lack of dive | | Weaknesses: | Weight (could be lighter ;) ) Steerer seems to be very very slightly undersized. My Syntace stem cannot hold the fork well enough to keep from sliding after a couple rides. Requires the stem cap to also tension. The Syntace works fine on my Reba without the cap. This may just be the rigid VS sussy impact to the HS. | | Similar Products Used: | Niner | | Bike Setup: | Niner SIR9 i9 Marta SL XTR/Boone running 29x18 SS | | Bottom Line: | At 465mm, it rides lower, and better to me, than the Niner. It weighs 760g cut to 175mm, and saved me 300g over the Niner fork. I wanted the sharpen the steering on my frame, so this was perfect. It is more compliant than the Niner steel fork, as well as taking out the buzz (as only carbon can).
Keep in mind this is a 465 AC, and will change your bike's handling. A Reba 80mm is 488, the Reba 100 is 508. Every 20mm is 1 degree in head angle, which is a big change in handling.
I'd love to try the On-One and the White with this fork, back to back. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
