$600.00 | | Purchased At: | Preformance | | Strengths: | Perfect for a newbie or the first FS rig someone might want to try, light-ish and with upgrades (which are not nessesary from stock) very very strong | | Weaknesses: | Single pivot rig, needs a lock out or anit-bob system, cranks suck or at least needs a new BB right away (one season tops) | | Similar Products Used: | My first FS rig, however i played with a nomand, trek and cannondale of the same travels before hand. | | Bike Setup: | 07' IH Warrior Frame, 07 marz AM (air) fork, 7" Hayes Mags front, stock rear Hayes m2. Gravit Cranks/ raceface x series BB ISIS, x9 Sram everything. Stock Rear Shock (marz roco tst soon thou) Maxxis minnion 2.35 F and R.
About $1200 in upgrades (as i broke or wore them out) and I have a rig I am extremely happy with. | | Bottom Line: | For a mid range 'out of the box' rig it is perfect. The parts and pieces are just good enough to give someone with little knowledge of bikes a good idea of what they want and should expect. And as they get busted or worn out it’s a slight upgrade to pretty high end parts. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$550.00 | | Purchased At: | Randall Scott www.rsbikes.com | | Strengths: | Very agile, quick handling, smooth shifts, awesome brakes, great geometry, very plush suspension, strong frame, mine is blue and looks awesome! | | Weaknesses: | None that I have found yet. | | Similar Products Used: | 2008 Trek Fuel 9, Raleigh M-80 (hardtail), Specialized Rockhopper (my hardtail ride), Wal Mart cheapo Mongoose | | Bike Setup: | Completely Stock, but I do have the 2007 Warrior 4.0. It has Hayes MX 4 brakes, Shimano Alivio deraileurs and shifters, Marzocchi MZ Comp forks, and a Fox Vanilla rear shock. | | Bottom Line: | I first saw an Iron Horse bike in a Performance catalog. I fell in love with it at first sight.I did some research and decided to buy the Warrior 4.0 from Randall Scott which was beating Performance by almost 100 bucks in price. When the bike came I assembled and took it out for a little test ride. It's an amazing bike. I mostly do XC, trail riding, and a little urban. I'm an ex-motocrosser so I like t get some air when I can. I love the way the bike handles and soaks up the terrain especially on the root strewn trails I ride. The bike is plush and precise at the same time. It goes where I point it. And I'm 205 pounds. There is some pedal bob, but it's not bad and it doesn't bother my old broken ass. I rode my buddies new $2600 Trek one day while we were out on the trails and there is no way I would pay the extra 2050 bucks for what he has, compared to my bike. Yeah, his is lighter and it has some sweet components on it, but at the end of the day it didn't do anything better, except not bob, than my Iron Horse. I was going to sell the bike and get something more expensive, but I decided to upgrade instead. I am concerned now that when I am done, the bike may not be as good as it was to begin with. We'll see. the bottom line is get an Iron Horse, save yourself some money, and have some fun. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$600.00 | | Purchased At: | Dick's | | Strengths: | decent frame, some of the components aren't bad for the price (handlebars, stem, cranks), great price | | Weaknesses: | fork needs about 2 more inches of travel and tops out like no other fork i've ever experienced, weee bit heavy, bushings wear out quick | | Similar Products Used: | iron horse yakuza (my bike), schwinn homegrown hardtail, c-dale V1000 | | Bike Setup: | stock as can be | | Bottom Line: | bought this bike for my girlfriend who wanted to be shown the wonders of mountain biking. It has certainly served it's purpose! She loves the way it looks, and it doesn't pedal too awfully bad. It can take quite a beating if you're relatively easy on drops and don't slam the bike onto flats too often. little bit of pedal bob but what do you expect with a single pivot design. this is all around bike but it does not excel at any one venue of riding. could be built up, and it needs a longer travel fork to match the rear. good overall coil suspended bike. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$750.00 | | Purchased At: | Performance | | Strengths: | 5" front and back. Not too heavy. Great parts right out of the factory. | | Weaknesses: | Rear shock spring was too soft, negotiate for the correct spring for your weight before you buy it. OEM tires are a very hard compound ad do not bite well. After 6 months of ABUSE, had to replace the shock bushings. | | Similar Products Used: | Walmart Bikes (toys compared to this) | | Bike Setup: | RS J3 130 w/ lockout, Fox Vanilla, SRAM X9 all around, Loco wheelset, Intense 909 tires 2.3/2.1, Hayes HFX 6", Kona Jacksh!t pedals | | Bottom Line: | I've crashed, jumped, dropped, crashed, and even DH raced it. It just keeps going. Had to get rid of the outter chainring and replace with a bashguard. Other than that, it's unstoppable. I can trail ride with the best of them, and even though it's a single pivot, the Fox Vanilla w/ pro pedal all but eliminates the bobbing. Flip the lockout switch for the fork and really crank it up those long smooth climbs like a rigid. If you're looking for a good entry level to intermediate bike, this is it! Best bang for the buck! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

The rear shock is pretty soft even at 120lbs. Great fork. Best bike for the price. Good for all mountain, but the weight of 30lbs is pretty heavy. The frame is durable and takes big drops wven though the shock bottoms out every time. If you buy this bike keep some money for a new shock. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$680.00 | | Purchased At: | randall scott | | Strengths: | Great bike for the low duckets, being a father of three I got other priorities if ya know what I mean. Anyways the bike has performed great, its got alot of strength in the frame, and keeps on soaking up the abuse. Overall handles drops, climbs and fast cornering. Great bike, | | Weaknesses: | The shock needs to be upgraded, though it can soak up the terrain. Rims are low end so keep an eye on them. The Marzochii fork is great for being OEM and offers great travel though no rebound.Pedals are a little slippery when wet. | | Similar Products Used: | n/a | | Bike Setup: | stock | | Bottom Line: | The "BLUF" Bottom Line Up Front, is that for the low duckets that you pay, you get alot of bike. Great travel while maintaing stiffness all around.Drops good and climbs well. Takes the abuse and keeps on giving back to the rider. Just upgrade some of the lower-end parts and you will have a true racer. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$750.00 | | Purchased At: | Sheepshead Cycle | | Strengths: | Excellent xc bike.Great Brakes. Decent front suspension (05 model) | | Weaknesses: | Rear shock is a little weak for anything but xc. The rear shock blew after 3 months of hard riding. | | Bike Setup: | Replaced rear schock. changed it to a Float RP32 (awesome shock) | | Bottom Line: | This is a great xc bike. I've had it for over a year now and the only thing that went was the rear shock. The rear shock couldn't handle the abuse of Blue Mountain, NY. I recommend this bike to any entering mountain biking. It has a sturdy frame and good brakes. other than the shock, this bike has handle the abuse i put it through. Highly recommended. Iron Horse bikes are great. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$650.00 | | Purchased At: | Performance Bikes | | Strengths: | Excellent quality for the price, solid bike, great suspension, great all around bike, tackles almost any terrain with ease | | Weaknesses: | Heavy, front derailleur could be better | | Similar Products Used: | none, this is my first fs | | Bike Setup: | Stock + Time Z pedals | | Bottom Line: | This is a great entry level FS bike for someone who wants a solid, quality bike for a low price. It's a great all around bike, I've done just about everything with it except downhill. I've done jumps, freeride, xc stuff, and general all mountain, and this bike handled them all very well. I would especially recommend this bike to an entry level rider who is new to mountain biking and doesn't know what kind of riding he/she wants to do. This bike is very low maitenence. It also works great in mud. The wide tires can handle almost any terrain, and I was very satisfied with how well the whole bike could handle rocks, logs, jumps, .etc. The only thing I didn't like was the weight and front derailleur. With too much pressure, the front derailleur will have problems shifting. I minor problem if you're carefull about where you shift. Also, the weight is a bit heavy. If you're entry level, this won't matter. It's not a monster or anything, but I wouldn't recommend it for small advanced riders who want a light bike and have more money to spend.
The bottom line: This is a great all around bike for any entry level-intermediate rider. Unbeatable quality for the price. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$750.00 | | Purchased At: | Bicycle, West Palm Beach, Florida | | Strengths: | Great Bike. Looks stealthy....Is stealthy! Has strong pulling power when going uphill. Frame is as good as a $1500. bike. This bike takes jumps beautifully and is pretty quick on the trails. Definitely for the above average trail rider. I've only had this bike for two weeks and I've put 70 miles on it already. I'm loving this bike! | | Weaknesses: | Nothing major...a little peddle bobbing, back feet rub the frame a little when riding. Slightly heavy, but not a tank. | | Similar Products Used: | Kona Kikkapu | | Bike Setup: | Stock so far. | | Bottom Line: | This Bike is a lot of BANG for your buck! $750.00 | | Purchased At: | Performance Bikes | | Strengths: | This bike has nice suspension. I would categorize it at a freeride bike. The tires that came on mine were fine though the bigger the better. It is very strong. i take it off 10 foot drops when i ride it and it holds up well | | Weaknesses: | When i got it the first time riding it me pedals fell off but that is because the bike store stripped it when putting it on | | Similar Products Used: | nothing in gerogia. I have ridden downhill bikes when i go out west to the downhill places. | | Bike Setup: | i have a new race face crank on it courtesy of the bike shop for their inconvienence. i also have some kenda kinetics DH sticky E 2.6 tires on it | | Bottom Line: | Overall it is a strong bike. When not downhilling out west i freeride in gerogia. I ttok this bike off many drops and various terrains it it still feels like new. $740.00 | | Purchased At: | Performance Bikes | | Strengths: | Beefy Frame. Good components. Looks good. Rides well. | | Weaknesses: | Waterbottel zerts stripped with no pressure applied. Some pedal bob. The stock front forks need allen wrenches to adjust, i like the quick adjust ones like the forks on my friends Giant Yukon. | | Similar Products Used: | BMXed before I started Mountainbiking. | | Bike Setup: | Stock, except for the upgraded pedals. | | Bottom Line: | This is a great overall bike. I ride crosscountry, and sometimes i do advanced trails, that have a little of downhill. I have it setup stock, except for my new pedals. The suspension on the bike is great, I havent bottomed it out yet, and I did a 5 foot drop two weeks ago. The bike corners like a dream, and flys down the hills. It has a little pedal bob when pedaling up steep hills that you must stand up on, but all bikes have that. The rear shock adjusts super quick, and absorbs all the big bumps. The bike steers great, allowing you to control the exact path you want to take.
