    Date Reviewed: July 13, 2008
Favorite Trail:Landahl, Rock Bridge State Park
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
    Price Paid: $16.00
    Purchased At:Performance online
Strengths:Shifts well, low wear rate, Powerlink.
    Weaknesses:none.
Similar Products Used:Shimano 8 speed chain (also good but I like the Powerlink).
Bike Setup:Lemond Poprad Cyclocross bike set up for dirt and gravel roads and on-road riding. Amsoil Heavy Duty Metal Protector chain lube.
Bottom Line:The best thing I can say about this chain is that I don't notice it. It shifts well, wears slowly (I have nearly two years riding on the current one), and doesn't need lubing very often, although a big part of that credit should go to the Amsoil HDMP. I am a big fan of SRAM products and run their shifters and derailleurs on my mountain bike.

    Favorite Trail:any singletrack
    Duration Product Used:1 Year
    Price Paid: $15.00
    Purchased At:lbs
    Strengths:cheap price
    powerlink
    doesn't break
    Weaknesses:none
Similar Products Used:many crappy ones from walmart, etc...
Bike Setup:IronHorse Sinister 26" wheels, SRAM cassette, SR Suntour crankset, Deore rear derailleur, Deore XT Front deralleur
Bottom Line:I've broken and twisted and obliterated a bunch of other crappy chains, this one is definetely not top of the line but neither is my ride; this chain has never failed me once and I have ground it into the chainstay at least 50 times without damaging it. (yep, I got a N-gear chainstop now) Didn't stretch very much over a years worth of riding; on top of that both my cassette and front chainrings had significant wear and damage to them and this chain kept going. No rust, little cleaning/oiling, this is a fine chain for a small price; if you're not running a real expensive drive train, use this. If nothing else, this is a great backup to throw in your repair parts bag.

Strengths:The Powerlink, cheap price, performs well.
    Weaknesses:None
Similar Products Used:Shimano, Sachs, Sedis, Izumi
Bike Setup:1990 vintage Schwinn KOM S-7 running a 7 speed Shimano cogset
Bottom Line:The Powerlink makes it really easy to remove the chain for cleaning, just squeeze the side plates together and push both link ends inward. The chain performs as well as any other brand I've used.

Strengths:Shifts very smooth, looks great, light weight, inexpensive, stiff/reliable feeling, extremely easy to install powerlink
Weaknesses:Powerlink seems to have stuck on
    Similar Products Used:shimano IG 31 Sram PC-48
    Bike Setup:2004 P2, 2003 Junior T, double track
Bottom Line:I very great chain for the price, comes lubed, and works great out of the box. A great chain that is worth every penny that you pay for it. Made my system shift smoother.

    Duration Product Used:6 months
    Price Paid: $15.00
    Purchased At:friends shop
    Strengths:None!
Weaknesses:New chain is longer more than 1mm in comparison to Shimano chains. It qualifies to exchange in the momment of purchase! Wears off immediately! After 800km it has lenghten another 1mm! This weaknesses apply to 2003 or newer chains made by sram. Those are easy to indentify by SRAM logo printed on. Old pc58 with Sachs logo perform wery well.
    Similar Products Used:IG90,XTR
Bike Setup:Too much to say... :D
Bottom Line:New pc58 chains are not worth ecen 1$. Don't buy this crap. You can only damage your new drivetrain and loose much money. Find an old pc58 with sachs logo - those are available in some stores. It is better to use Wipperman Connex instead.
