$50.00 | | Bottom Line: | This is an update to my review below. There is no category for the Optic Nerve glasses, so this is the best place to put this review i think.
I picked up the optic nerve synergy model and they are pretty great. They are half the price of the smith toasters and just slightly larger -- so they fit my face nicely, have a little more fashion sense and they fog less than the toasters did. Also, i think they come with a better lens selection....the copper lens is unbelievably clear, great contrast and no distortion. I am very impressed. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

They were the first pair i bought for riding bikes and they were stylish when i bought them. Since then i have upgraded my stylin' sunglasses, but still use these for "performance" because i haven't been able to find anything to replace them.
Yes they fog a bit when i am standing still, but only when it's super humid, and it's good motivation to not stop. I have dropped them, crashed in them etc. and they have only minor scratches. I forget i am wearing them and they protect my eyes. That's what i want from glasses. Gonna pick up some OPtic NErve multi-lens glasses next and see if they will compare despite the cheap price.
I didn't trust the lens retention in the Theory model, so i returned them. Although the Theory fit my face beatifully and look better than the toasters performed similarly in the fog department. I think sunglasses are overpriced in general, but i have to give these a good value rating relative to others that cost the same. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

These sunglasses stick to your face, i've never had a problem with slipping in snow, with sweat, or bike breaking crashes. Lenses are pretty scratch free after all this time. | | Weaknesses: | Do to interchanging lenses, all my lenses are scratched near the nose peice, but this doesn't affect vision. They are one of the only sport sunglasses with arms that curve down around the ears, not just strait. That helps with the fit, which is really good. When riding, they stay in place (even in crashes). The optics are great. I had some oakleys, but the lenses were just too dark. The yellow lenses that come with the glasses are great for dim woods and the browns are good for bright days. I have the special edition blue platinum lenses (if anyone knows the visible light transmission for these, please email me), which are good for anything in between the other 2 lenses. If you find that other glasses have too much curve to them, try these puppies out. If you need more "wraparound" fit, look somewhare else.
The rubber pieces... Smith claims they absorb sweat and "stick" to your skin better...does that mean they'll start to smell eventually? Im not sure if its actually "stickier" but the rubber pieces are in just the right places and not obstructive.
The yellow lenses are just perfect for most woods type trail conditions, while amber is suitable for anything brighter. And another comment about the optics...CLEAR AS DAY!! Nobody has less distortion than Smith, as I can tell a noticeable improvment in visual acuity over a pair of Oakleys.
Light, functional, and stylish. All in all a Great set of glasses.
One little problem...the screw fell out of one of they temple pieces, but no biggie, just a little drop of locktite forgotten at the factory. | | Value Rating:Overall Rating: |

This feature along with the price make them a versatile pair of shades. Lightweight, durable, nose and temple pads all make these a great buy. Smiths also come with a quality semi-rigid case that can hold the glasses along with the lenses, and closes tight with or without the sunglasses in them. They run about $100, but beat any Oakleys or other quality eyewear since the lenses expand your options for variable light conditions. I give them 3 since they cost $100 and a 4 because a 5 should be (almost) unatainable...a 10 chili system would allow a better curve. | | Value Rating:Overall Rating: |
