Remote actuation instructions that came with the post was confusing but you can look up the instructions online. The seat has minor play, like other dropper posts

I initially installed the post in my Trek XCal with the manual lever and really liked the way it operated. I didn't have any problems with the seat keeping its position. I recently installed the remote lever and the seat doesn't raise all the way up without pulling on the seat. I've tried adjusting the cable tension but I think this is the best it's going to get. The seat still feels quite stable...I just raised the entire post 1" and it's working fine.

It's a dropper post! These things are RAD! To me, dropper posts are one of the best things to happen to the sport after front suspension, indexed shifting, and clipless pedals. Ride on!

Needs to be re pressurized every once in a while…the single bolt clamp post I first had is no good for keeping a seat at the same angle.
"Wow! Single bolt seat posts are the best!" said no one. Ever.
So why do companies insist on the unreliability of one side bolt for the clamp?
Luckily, my post was the new 2014 model that had the two adjustor bolts, and it has NEVER come out of adjustment.

I'm actually pretty happy with this post. I do need to add air otherwise it gets a little soft on the top end and I need to elevate the post every few minutes while riding (stand up and press the BAT remote). But adding air isn't too difficult. I liked the 420mm post length that allowed me to run it in a 17.5" frame (since cracked).
I am overall pretty happy with this thing.

As soon as I used the post it starts to give when you sit on it. By the end of the ride my seat moves 1.5in when I sit on it.

The X-Fusion Hilo w Remote came on my 2013 Cannondale Trigger. I have owned the bike for just over a year now and have sent this dropper back 3 times (after each time I used it). Each time when I get it back its nice and stiff with no play when you sit on it. As soon as I use it one time it will start to give a little when sitting on it. From then on every time I sit on the seat it gives a little more. I guess its fine if you like a dropper that moves down an inch every time you sit on it but for me that’s not acceptable.

Currently it is collecting dust in my basement and I replaced it with a standard seat post while I research which dropper I will replace it with. My recommendation is to spend more money and get one that works.

I do like my X-Fusion dropper but I wish that it was more reliable. I rebuilt that post 3 times in about a year of use, first time after 2 weeks when I bought it new, and learned the hard way that carrying a rigid seat post in your toolkit (left in the car, of course) is not a bad idea.
I had all issues from having a suspension post (not locking), not holding air (latest), failing on the trail, oil leaks all over...It could be improved a lot by fixing the head seal and preventing the dirt to get into the valve but that, I would leave that to their engineers.
In all fairness, I do use my dropper a lot and reading reviews of other brands of seatpost does make this one worst of better. The 3 chili's are for mix feelings about this dropper.

Bottom line: Don't pay full retail price and try to not buy a used one unless your can fix it yourself.

After installing this post on my Rocky Mountain Altitude, I notice that the post couldn't slide down low enough on my frame for it to be the correct height. It was just a tad too high still. There was extra spacing that I could hack off to get it just right, so I called X-Fusion. They were super helpful and offered great customer support. I told him my problem and my possible solution and they told me it was okay to do what I needed. I took a pipe cutter and trimmed off about an 1/8 of an inch and it was perfect.

After about 100 miles on this post and it going up and down a good amount of times, there hasn't been any issues at all. No leaks and it worked just as if it were new. What I also noticed was that when I had my seat clamp too tight, the return was slowed. I just loosened my clamp about a 1/4 turn and it popped up fast while still being secure.

Overall, its been a great post. I've ridden a KS Supernatural and a Specialized Command Post and would choose this over those 2 in heartbeat.

Great post, I had the original Hilo 125 for about 2.5 years. I rebuilt it once in that time. It worked flawlessly. It finally cropped out on me after all that time and abuse. I am getting their latest dropper post which is much lighter and internally routed! Xfusion is great!

Called X Fusion to order a remote kit. They told to call back as it take 1-2 months to get the parts they need, from Tiawan, to complete the kit.

A little finiky to set up. Seat clamp could be a better design, The assembly pamphlet wasn't up to date. Very sensitive to seat clamp tightness.

Ok I purchased this the x fusion post ffrom MEC for $199 ca having read all the reviews I could find. Most of them bad. But I needed one in a hurry and all the other 27.2 options cost twice as much. So What have I found? I can see where a lot of people can have issues with this post but I've found that once you are aware of them they arent that hard to over come.
Starting with the instruction book. It was good and has all the info you need to set the post up but the assembly instructions for the remote were for a completly different remote lever design. It's not a big deal. Any one who has had any experience with a lego set or mecano can work out how to assemble the simple lever assembly if they just take the time.
The seat clamp could definatly be improved. The bolt has to be really tight to stop the seat tilting if you land on it hard. To take the pain out of this grease the bolt threads. This'll make it easier to tork as well as make adjustment easier as well. Some lock tight or friction compound applied to the clamp cups would also help matters.
The posts return speed. Out of the box and with the recomended 25psi the last 25mm takes ages to fully extend. With 35psi and some spray lubricant on the seals got it moving how you'd expect it to. The return speed also improved with use so you could probably lower the preasure over time. Another thing that can cause return speed issues is over tightening your seat post clamp. It must deform the post shaft enough to create extra stiction inside te post. Just backing off my seat post clamp bolt an 1/8th of a turn made a world of differnece.
I can't really coment on reliability.
So far I like it. It's ideosyncracies aren't insurmountable as long as you have a good mechanical aptitude and take your time you can get it dialed.

really slow on the return especially last 10mm. seems to feel sluggish overall. kills the cable every time you use the pinch bolt.

I got this post because it was available in 27.2 before the kindshock or (KS) one was available from our parts distributor. That was a mistake. I was excited to see the great looking box and opened it to a even better looking post. Went to install on my bike and got to the weak instruction manual. It said to set the air pressure to 25. So i set it the way the book (pamphlet) told me upside down and holding the lever. Which almost requires 2 people. Once installed i hit the lever and sat down. It was extremely rough, so i thought it needed some wearing in. I proceeded to take it out on multiple rides and used multiple different lubes to make the action smoother. Nothing seemed to work. so i called x fusion. no answer. So i called again the next day and got someone who told me to lube the stanchion with demon tech lite lube and that the 27.2 has a tighter seal tolerance. got the lube and tried it again. better for about 10 motions then back to sluggish action. Then i get a call from x-fusion returning my fist call. This gentleman i feel knew more and told me i could put the pressure up to 30 psi to increase the return speed but any more will blow out the seal. I put 28 psi and it helped a little. Still unhappy with the way this post moves through its motions. Then my friend from the auto shop next door ordered the kind shock supernatural in the 30.9 and it is flawless and feels soo smooth the lever is more burly and the return speed is great. Oh yeah if i pull up on the x-fusion the seat comes up. If i pull up on the kindshock the bike comes up. you really have to yank on the KS to get it to come up and it sucks back down when you let go. the x-fusion does not return very well at all. So this was my experience with the x-fusion hilo dropper post in the 27.2. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS POST.

I would have amended my earlier review but I guess MTBR didn't pay for that function with the software.

Anyways, not much has changed, post has been unreliable at best & just plain unusable at its worst. Back in a box today to go back to X-Fusion to get warrantied. 2x in 1 year, unacceptable for the price. I sincerely hope they just give me a new unit this time, I believe I have a lemon.
